Tour itinerary
Day 1 - Arrival
Arrival at the airport. Transfer to the hotel.
Day 2 - Tbilisi and Mtskheta full day tour
Tour starts at 10:00 am.
Your guide and chauffeur will rendezvous with you in the hotel lobby at 10:00 AM.
Commencing the exploration of Tbilisi, the journey kicks off at Europe Square and Rike Park. A cable car ascent transports you to the venerable Narikala Fortress, affording breathtaking views of the city from its mountaintop perch. Descending, you'll have the opportunity to discover the Legvtakhevi waterfall, the bath house district, Shardeni street, and Meidan square. The itinerary also includes traversing the pedestrian glass Bridge of Peace over the Mtkvari River, providing vistas of both the historic and contemporary quarters of Tbilisi. Subsequently, a drive to Mtskheta, a historic town and erstwhile capital, awaits just a half-hour away.
Prior to departing Tbilisi, the initial pause occurs at the Tbilisi Sea Memorial—a substantial bronze monument renowned as the "Chronicle of Georgia." This Soviet-era artistic masterpiece in the city offers a panorama of the Kartly mountains and the Temka district.
Upon arriving in Mtskheta, two significant Christian architectural landmarks beckon exploration: the Svetitskhoveli Cathedral and the Jvari Monastery—both designated as UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Take a moment to wander through a small nunnery situated behind Svetitskhoveli, accessible by following souvenir stalls along Arsukidze street leading to the Aragvi riverside. Additionally, in Mtskheta, the Antioch, the oldest basilica, has undergone recent restoration and embellishment.
As the day concludes, transportation will be arranged to return you to your hotel.
Drive back to the hotel.
Day 3 - Kazbegi full day tour
The tour starts at 10:00, with your guide and driver picking you up from the hotel. The journey unfolds to the north along the Georgian Military Highway, winding through the imposing Greater Caucasus mountains.
Our initial pause occurs at the medieval Ananuri fortress, located on the right bank of the Zhinvali Reservoir. Constructed during the 16th and 17th centuries, this complex features two fortifications, two churches, and residential structures that belonged to the influential Aragvi Eristavi feudal family. You'll have approximately 30 minutes to explore the site before heading towards the Gudauri ski resort.
As the road ascends, the scenery undergoes a transformation. Prior to arriving at Stepantsminda (formerly known as Kazbegi), the path becomes winding and ascends rapidly. Along the journey, several stops are planned to appreciate the Monument of Peace (an observation platform), the Jvari Pass (at an altitude of 2300 meters), and the enchanting Travertine Valley.
Upon reaching the highest point along the watershed of the Aragvi and Tergi Rivers, follow the subalpine road to Stepantsminda, the administrative hub of the Khevi province.
After lunch, we proceed to the Gergeti Trinity Church. Positioned atop Gergeti mountain, this church is nestled beneath the shadow of Mount Kazbegi (5047 m). If weather conditions permit, you might catch a glimpse of the majestic peak from Stepantsminda. The return journey to the hotel concludes the day's exploration.
